Shota Ushiba (Reverse NJ 2011) and Preeya Kuray (NJ 2012) were listed as first and fourth authors respectively on a publication relating to their research projects the journal Carbon. Shota is a member of LaSIE Group at Osaka University and conducted his 2011 NanoJapan project at Rice Unviersity with the Kono Group. Preeya is a student from Rutgers University who conducted research in the LaSIE Group at Osaka University as part of the NanoJapan 2012 program under the advisement of Prof. Kawata. Shota served as her graduate student mentor. .

2011 Reverse NanoJapan participant Shota Ushiba and Jordan Hoyt (NJ 2013) were names first and second author respectively on an article recently published in the Journal of Nanomaterials that includes research conducted in the LaSIE Lab at Osaka University through the NanoJapan: IREU Program.. The article highlights research that studing the alignment of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in bubble imprints through polarized Raman microscopy.
