NanoJapan Overview
I will soon be a fifth year senior at Rice University and anticipate graduating in May 2008 with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics. For the past several years I have become more and more interested in nanotechnology and have spent the majority of my undergraduate career doing research in the field. Last summer I participated in Rice University's Nanojapan program and was interned at Tohoku University with Prof. Yoshihiro Iwasa. My project involved creating an inverter using a nanoscale organic field effect transistor.

Last summer was the most fun I have had in my entire life as a
researcher, and maybe even an individual. Being immersed in the culture, living on my own in Sendai, and taking cultural excursions led to an amazing summer that I will not soon forget. I encourage all future participants to explore all facets of the country with vigor because you may not ever get to go back. Best wishes, good luck with your projects and don't go too crazy!
